Biography

William is a trusted adviser to a number of high-profile clients across the construction and infrastructure field including developers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.

William advises on all aspects of contract preparation for major construction projects, including negotiation, drafting and risk analysis across all Australian standard form contracts, as well as ongoing live project support such as contract administration. He is experienced in ECI, early works, alliance, ITC, joint venture and main works contracts across construction and infrastructure projects.

His construction experience spans over 10 years, including prior roles in London advising on English and international construction contracts and secondments to the Middle East and with Mace Group, a leading international construction and consultancy company, and more recently with Lendlease Construction.

William’s international background across English, Australian and international standard form contracts, combined with in-house experience , gives him a practical understanding of how legal risks are managed.

He is also a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, bringing cross-jurisdictional capability to clients operating in international construction markets.

Acting for a leading building contractor on a A$250 million medical research facility in Sydney, advising on procurement, negotiating the building contract, drafting the pass-down subcontract and consultancy agreement, and preparing contract administration documentation.

Curtin University sciences building: A$250 million+

Negotiating ECI, Early Works and Main Works contracts for a A$250 million new sciences building at Curtin University, Perth.

Multi-billion dollar road infrastructure project (NSW)

Acting for a tier one contractor on the tender stage of a multi-billion dollar road infrastructure project in New South Wales, drafting template subcontracts and supply agreements and negotiating the tender services agreement and joint venture agreement.

Project Remediate: cladding remediation (NSW)

Acting for a national contractor on downstream contracts for Project Remediate, a government initiative to rectify defective cladding in New South Wales, including negotiating consultant agreements and managing head contract liability alignment.
