Steve brings more than 30 years of corporate and commercial law practice and substantial experience as a director on ASX-listed and large private company boards. A Fellow of the AICD, he advises major listed and private corporations, combining legal expertise with first-hand governance experience.
Biography
Steve acts for major listed and private corporations across all aspects of their corporate and commercial activities and specialises in M&A transactions. Steve takes pride in developing long term, trusted and valued relationships with businesses on a growth journey and playing a key role in driving and supporting that growth, always looking for a win/win outcome that is relationship driven. Some of Steve's clients include SkyCity, ECH and Land Services.
As a professional company director, Steve also brings a strong business and governance perspective to his advisory work, having served on numerous ASX, large private and not for profit Boards. Some notable examples include:
- Founding Director of national property, finance and investment group, Precision Group, leading the development of a national property business in shopping centres and commercial assets in Australia and New Zealand.
- Director of global fintech, Prezzee Limited, leading the development of its global footprint in Australia, the US and the UK as well as its recent introduction to Asia through Union Pay.
- Director/Deputy Chairman of ASX listed Terramin Australia Ltd, driving that business from start up to ASX listing to a significant mining group with a major international grade project in Africa and market capitalisation of approximately $500M at its peak.
- Chairman of Exact Contracting, a national construction group, leading the development and execution of its top tier and government customer strategy and expanding its services from Mining Services to include the set up of its highly successful Water, Defence and Government and Civil and Infrastructure Divisions.
- Director of not for profit Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation as well as providing support to various other not for profits including Zoos SA, Autism SA and Life Ed Australia.
Steve advises on the full range of corporate and commercial matters, including M&A, commercial contracts, corporate governance and general corporate law. He has substantial experience overseeing and setting up legal functions for large organisations, giving him insight into current and emerging commercial and legal issues from an in-house perspective.
Steve specialises in managing large transactions and cross border M&A transactions. Having developed a unique and deep senior network, Steve focuses on providing the best possible value to every engagement that he takes on to achieve the best outcome.
Steve has advised major listed and private corporations throughout a career at top-tier firms in Sydney and Adelaide spanning more than 30 years. His board experience across ASX-listed companies, large private companies and not-for-profit foundations provides direct perspective on governance, risk management and institutional oversight.
Steve is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served as a director on ASX-listed and private company boards.
