Biography
Peter advises companies, boards and shareholders on their obligations and rights across a range of commercial disputes and issues arising from financial distress. He acts for directors, insolvency practitioners and corporate clients in both corporate and personal insolvency administrations and for financiers in security enforcement.
Peter advises directors on insolvent trading exposure, safe harbour planning and regulatory compliance. He acts for insolvency practitioners and creditors in relation to voluntary administration, deeds of company arrangement, receivership and liquidation, including all necessary court applications. Peter also handles disputes arising from commercial transactions, and disputes regarding shareholder and property rights. He acts for financiers in enforcing security interests, and assists in responses to regulatory investigations.
Peter has more than 25 years of experience in commercial disputes and insolvency. His safe harbour practice operates at the intersection of director liability and corporate rescue, advising boards on restructuring plans in real time under financial pressure. His DOCA expertise includes complex structures using creditors’ trusts for backdoor listings.
Peter’s practice combines recognised insolvency depth with a practical commercial approach to risk management by directors, financiers and companies in financial distress or involved in complex disputes.

Restructuring success
Acted for the director of MGW Engineering in the successful restructuring of its financially distressed business. The restructuring included a compromise with creditors totalling $16 million through a deed of company arrangement, with a transfer of shares.
Business acquisition dispute
Acted for companies in the TMA Group of Companies in successfully obtaining damages for breaches of warranties against the sellers of a printing business.
Joint venture dispute
Acted for a joint venture partner is a series of disputes regarding a series of property developments, resulting in the appointment of a special purpose receiver to protect the interests of the client in the joint venture company.
Regulatory enforcement
Successfully defended criminal action against a client prosecuted for unlawful clearing of native vegetation.
