Monica acts for Commonwealth Government agencies and departments on public sector employment and workplace matters. Over the last 17 years she has specialised in Commonwealth employment law. She has substantial in-house Commonwealth Government experience across several agencies.

Monica advises on the Commonwealth employment framework and all aspects of public sector employment including: management of workplace grievances, performance and disciplinary matters, APS Code of Conduct investigations and sanctions, entitlements under collective agreements, employment contracts and policies, termination, unlawful discrimination and harassment, work health and safety, workers’ compensation claims, Public Interest Disclosure investigations and the National Anti-Corruption Commission. She also provides employment training to clients.

Enterprise agreements and entitlements

Advises on disputes and interpretation issues concerning entitlements under collective agreements, and represents clients in Fair Work Commission proceedings concerning agreement terms and conditions.

Unfair dismissal and general protections

Represents Commonwealth agencies in unfair dismissal and general protections proceedings in the Fair Work Commission and courts, including discrimination claims.

Public Interest Disclosure investigations

Conducts investigations under the Public Interest Disclosure Act and advises in relation to the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

Work health and safety

Advises Commonwealth agencies on WHS obligations and workers’ compensation claims under the Commonwealth framework.
