Jae acts for major Australian and international banks, corporates, developers and private equity funds on complex energy, infrastructure and property finance, with a particular focus on the renewables sector across Asia-Pacific. Jae has been a guest speaker at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.
Biography
Financial institutions, corporates, developers and private equity funds engaged in infrastructure finance and energy transactions, including transactions in the renewable energy sector. His clients include major Australian and international banks, private credit funds and corporate sponsors seeking project finance, acquisition finance and corporate lending across their energy transition and infrastructure programs.
Jae advises on the full range of project and infrastructure finance transactions, including EPC-backed project finance, acquisition and corporate lending, energy transition financing and cross-border capital structures. He acts for both financial institutions and corporate borrowers, providing advice on finance documentation, project documentation (including power purchase agreements), security arrangements, regulatory requirements and transaction structuring. His practice covers energy projects, major infrastructure transactions and project financings across Asia-Pacific, South America and Africa.
Jae advises on multi-jurisdictional transactions across Australia, Asia-Pacific, South America and Africa. He has advised on financings exceeding US$1 billion for some of Asia's largest power stations. He has also advised on financings for some of Australia’s largest renewable energy and port infrastructure projects. He has advised on utility-scale solar, wind and battery storage projects, as well as port, transport and industrial infrastructure. Jae has acted on a number of one-of-a-kind projects that have been recognised by leading trade and industry publications.
Jae brings 20 years of energy and banking experience, including 16 years practising in Hong Kong with global firms Eversheds Sutherland, Herbert Smith Freehills and Latham and Watkins. His international background gives him direct experience across complex cross-border capital structures and regulated infrastructure markets that is uncommon in the domestic Australia market.
Jae is admitted to the Senior Courts of England and Wales, the High Court of Hong Kong, as well as the High Court of New Zealand.

Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation
Advising Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation on its: (i) joint venture and equity financing arrangements with ACEN Australia to develop utility-scale wind, solar and energy storage projects in the Pilbara region of Western Australia; and (ii) 75MWac-150MWac solar array and BESS project (Project Jinbi) in the Pilbara region on Western Australia.
The project includes a 30 year power purchase agreement with Rio Tinto and will connect directly to Rio Tinto's existing transmission infrastructure in the Pilbara.
Pacific Hydro
Advising Pacific Hydro on its A$361 million financing of the Portland Wind Project in Victoria, Australia. The project was supported by Australia’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
Energy Development Corporation
Advising Energy Development Corporation on its US$320 million financing of a 150 MW wind project plant in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines. The project was supported by Eksport Kredit Fonden, the Danish export credit agency and was the first wind project in the Philippines to qualify for that country’s FiT scheme.
The project was awarded "Asia-Pacific Renewable Deal of the Year" by Project Finance International, "Asia Wind Deal of the Year" by IJ Global, "Best ECA Backed Green Deal" by Trade & Export Finance, "GTR Best Deal" by Global Trade Review and "Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year" by Trade Finance Magazine.
Standard Chartered Bank and GuarantCo
Advising Standard Chartered Bank and GuarantCo on its project financing of the 28 MW Teknaf Solartech solar project in Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. The project is the first utility-scale, grid-connected solar project in Bangladesh.
The project won “Asia-Pacific Solar Deal of the Year” at the Infrastructure Journal Awards 2018 and "Best Bangladesh Deal" at the FinanceAsia Achievement Awards 2018.
NSW Ports Consortium
Advising NSW Ports Consortium on its A$5.07 billion acquisition of Port Botany and Port Kembla from the NSW Government, Australia.
The acquisition was awarded "Best Project Finance Deal" at FinanceAsia's Achievement Awards.
Green Peak Energy
Advising Green Peak Energy, a CBRE investee company, on its acquisition from Voltaic Energy (trading as Upstream Energy) of a 15 MW portfolio of solar systems located across more than 300 commercial and industrial rooftops across Australia.
PT Bumi Resources Tbk
Advising PT Bumi Resources Tbk on its: (i) successful takeover of Wolfram, an Australian gold and copper miner, for A$63.5 million. Wolfram owns the Mt. Carlton gold mine and crush creek project in Queensland; and (ii) US$30 million senior secured financing from Glencore to re-start the mine.
FC Credit
Advising FC Credit on its: (i) $57.5 million senior secured cross-border financing to the Swyftx group, a cryptocurrency exchange and fintech group; and (ii) A$30 million senior secured cross-border financing to the TF Global Markets group, a leading provider of on-line trading services in Australia.
Minor International Public Company Limited and Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited
Advising Minor International Public Company Limited (a publicly listed company in Thailand) and Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited, on their A$157 million and NZ$11 million senior secured loan facilities with SCB, ANZ and UOB to support the Oaks hotels and resorts in Australia and New Zealand.
