Biography

Cameron acts for insurers, self-insureds, government departments, statutory authorities, statutory corporations, ASX-listed companies and private companies in the defence of liability claims across Australia. His clients include major government bodies and national insurers. He is based in Melbourne.

Cameron advises on and defends claims in public liability, professional indemnity, product liability, contractors all risk, property, industrial special risk and dust diseases. His practice also covers intentional torts including historical child sexual and physical abuse and bullying, and commercial litigation. He advises on insurance policy wordings, contractual insurance and indemnity clauses, and acts in indemnity disputes. He has also acted as outside counsel on secondment to draft legislation, regulations and policies for government clients.

Cameron has more than 20 years of experience in insurance litigation, appearing in the High Court, State and Federal Supreme Courts, Courts of Appeal, the County Court and Magistrates Courts. He has acted in class actions and individual claims, coronial inquests and major legislation drafting including the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority Act 1996. He serves as National Immediate Past President of the Australian Insurance Law Association, having served as National President for a record five consecutive years.

Cameron holds a leadership position within Australia’s insurance law profession as Immediate Past President of the Australian Insurance Law Association, and serves on multiple working groups including the Victorian County Court Institutional Liability List and the Convenor of the Medical Panels Wrongs Act Working Group.
