Biography

Corporate clients across a broad range of industry sectors on Australia’s largest and most complex transactions. Cameron’s clients include ASX-listed companies, private corporations, high net worth individuals and family groups, charities and not-for-profit entities, and private equity sponsors.

Cameron advises on income tax, stamp duty and GST matters arising in major corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, restructures, divestments and cross-border investment structures. He also provides tax structuring advice across all areas of corporate tax. Three features distinguish his practice: his earlier career as a corporate M&A lawyer gives him a commercial perspective uncommon in specialist tax advisors; his coverage of all tax types means he can identify and analyse every tax issue at the outset of a transaction; and his Chartered Accountancy qualifications allow him to apply a financial analytical perspective to complex tax matters.

Cameron has worked on some of Australia’s largest and most complex transactions. Recent matters include advising on the tax aspects of MMA Offshore’s A$1.1 billion acquisition by Cyan Renewables, reported as the largest takeover in the Asia-Pacific wind power sector for 2024.

Cameron combines a law degree, a Master of Laws, a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), a Bachelor of Computing and Chartered Accountancy qualifications, making him unusually equipped to advise at the intersection of law, tax and commercial analysis. His career spans across leading Australian and international firms, the State Revenue Office Victoria and strong links to the Australian Taxation Office, positioning him well to liaise and negotiate with tax authorities. He regularly presents for the Tax Institute and has served on the board of the Law Institute of Victoria.
