Major Australian law firm Thomsons is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Partners to its Adelaide office – real estate lawyer Lisa Harrington and workplace law practitioner Liz Viant.

Lisa Harrington joins the firm as a Partner in the Real Estate team, bringing more than 15 years’ experience advising clients across property and broader commercial matters, including hospitality and agriculture.

Liz Viant joins as a Partner in the Employment and Workplace Relations and Safety team. Liz is an experienced employment and industrial relations specialist with deep expertise across workplace disputes, enterprise bargaining, work health and safety matters, investigations and government advisory work.

Chief Executive Partner Adrian Tembel said the appointments reflected Thomsons' continued growth and investment in practice areas where there is increasing demand.

“Lisa and Liz are both highly regarded lawyers with strong reputations in their respective markets and practices,” Adrian said.

“Lisa brings extensive commercial property and development experience and a strong client following, while Liz adds significant depth to our employment and workplace relations capability. Together, they further strengthen our offering in Adelaide and reinforce our commitment to investing in high-quality people and practices across the firm.”

Lisa Harrington said she was excited to join Thomsons and contribute to the firm’s continued growth.

“Thomsons has an outstanding reputation for delivering high quality, commercial legal advice and for its strong, collaborative culture,” she said.

“I look forward to working with the team to build on the firm’s property and commercial practice, and supporting clients with practical, solutions-focused advice that aligns with their business objectives.”

Lisa has built a strong reputation for delivering practical, commercially focused advice on complex property transactions, leasing arrangements, land development and subdivision projects. She is also a member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (SA) Executive Council.

Liz Viant said she was drawn to Thomsons' commercial approach and strong national platform.

“Thomsons' collaborative culture and growing national employment practice made it an exciting opportunity. I look forward to working with clients across both the private and government sectors on complex workplace, investigations and industrial relations matters,” she said.

Liz has extensive experience advising on industrial disputes, enterprise bargaining, work health and safety matters and employee claims, as well as conducting sensitive workplace investigations involving allegations such as sexual harassment, bullying, fraud and corruption.

Liz will be joined by Special Counsel David Hunt and Senior Associate Shelini Hillier.
