From 25 May 2026, Thomson Geer will become Thomsons, and TG Legal + Technology will become Faculti Lawyers.

A considered evolution

This is not a change in who we are, or in the people, relationships and standards that our clients know. It is a considered evolution in how we describe and present the two principal parts of our legal services businesses.

It reflects both stability and progress: stability because the underlying firms, people, client relationships and standards remain the same; and progress because each firm will now be better positioned to be known for what it does best.

Thomsons will continue to be a major independent Australian law firm, trusted by companies, governments and other institutions on important legal assignments where complexity, consequence and scrutiny converge.

Faculti Lawyers will continue to focus on important business-as-usual legal portfolios, particularly where clients need certainty, consistency, scale and the optimal use of technology.

Together, the two firms give us a clearer platform for the future: closely aligned, but each with a sharper identity and a clearer role. The new name gives each legal practice the ability to flourish in its own right and be known for the specialist capability it has developed.

Continuing close alignment

The close working relationship between Thomsons and Faculti Lawyers will continue.

Both firms will continue to operate under the same ownership structure and risk management framework and group professional indemnity insurance arrangements. Expertise not held within Faculti Lawyers will continue to be available from Thomsons as required and vice versa.

Existing panel arrangements, subcontracting arrangements and contracts on foot will continue in force in the ordinary course, with Thomsons and Faculti Lawyers as the relevant names from 25th May 2026.

The important point is that the two firms will continue to be linked and closely aligned, while each has more space to be known for what it is best at. Thomsons will continue to grow its position and identity in complex, specialist and high value work. Faculti Lawyers will continue to build its position and identity in technology-enabled portfolio legal services for institutional clients.

Our continuing focus

We are proud of what this next step represents and grateful for the confidence our clients have placed in us over many years.

Our focus remains unchanged: to provide legal services of the highest quality, in the right way, through the right model, and with the same commitment to judgement, responsiveness and practical outcomes that our clients expect from us.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to continuing to work with you as Thomsons and Faculti Lawyers, and to sharing more with you about this next stage in the firm’s development.
